Give us some Banjo

Yes “Squirrel Train” has Banjo in it. I really do not know what authority in Nashville decided a few years ago that to be authentic country we need to add a banjo. But as I listen to Pamela Hopkins singing over the banjo it feels right.

I hear some tasty guitar licks in there as well. Then again no train song would be complete without adding the wail of a crying guitar. I have to say that this song is just an enjoyable piece of chuga-chuga motion that I would expect. All I can say to the producer and artist is very well done.

Kick stress to the curb

Listening to the song the listener can forget the stress of the day for a while and just simply be present. You can just sit back, sipping an adult beverage and enjoy the arrangement. You could also throw a little sawdust on the floor and give your best girl a whirl.

What the doctor ordered

There are some guitar leads that would make a chicken blush and sound very Brent Mason-ish. That is a good thing since he is one of the main studio pickers in Nashville. I hear some well placed fiddle in there as well which gives a nod towards authentic country. “Squirrel Train” by Pamela Hopkins may just be what the doctor prescribes for your country need.

In Conclusion

Give yourself a few minutes of fun and listen to Pamela Hopkins taking a turn at driving the “Squirrel Train” before it passes you by.  While you are there, check out her other songs.  This lady is damn impressive.  Giving her 5 out of 5 Stars for this work, her attitude and the way she delivers a song. Why doesn’t everybody in America know who she is – is what I want to know?
