Night Owls
What do they say about time and numbers? Good things come to those who wait. How about the more the merrier. In addition, there’s safety in numbers and a picture is worth a thousand words. All of those things happened which caused the formation of the Little River Band fan club. For decades the band did not have a fan club. That changed in 2016 when the bands publicist reserved www.LittleRiverBandFanClub.com and created a free fan club group at Facebook. What better name for the concert goers and music lovers but Wayne’s hit song, “The Night Owls?” Read on for more about Little River Band Fan Club is full of Night Owls.
Wayne Nelson
In 1979-1980, Wayne Nelson was invited into Little River Band by the founding members of the band. They played together for years. One by one the founding members left for greener pastures or so they thought. Wayne stuck it out and for years has been the longest standing member of the band with over 43 years with a short break to recover from a family tragedy.
About Wayne Nelson
Nelson worked alongside founding members with some of the most distinctive harmonies and vocal abilities, creating the unique LRB sound. In 1981, Nelson was recognized by world renowned Beatles producer Sir George Martin whom, while producing ‘Time Exposure’, chose Nelson to record lead vocals on two of the band’s biggest hits, “The Night Owls” and “Take It Easy On Me.” Later that same year guitarist extraordinaire Stephen Housden joined LRB bringing a rock element into the band’s sound and helped contribute to their string of Top 10 hits. As band members departed, both Housden and Nelson worked together to bring LRB into the new millennium.
To date, lead singer/bassist Wayne Nelson has contributed his vocal and bass guitar talents on 22 Little River Band Albums/CD’s. LRB continues to perform to sold out audiences, and Stephen Housden continues to write and participate in all things Little River Band. He is very involved with the band behind the scenes.
About The Night Owls
Little River Band fan club members affectionately dubbed, “The Night Owls,” are a wonderful group of people that care about one another. They came for the music but they stay for the friendship and the comradeship. The people in the fan club are fans of the current band members, their new music and the songs that touched them in their younger years. Little River Band is a multi-generational band that see’s grandparents, parents, children and now even great grandchildren attending shows together. The band is currently in the recording studio working on new music that all the Night Owls will love. There will be something in it for everyone. They are aiming at a release date around late summer into early fall.

There are several different options and packages you can choose from to become a Night Owl. Pick a GOLD PACKAGE and become a GOLDIE. That package has all the bells and whistles including Meets & Greets and access to the annual fan club gathering. You can pick the Bare Bones package which gets you an ID card, a welcome letter from the band and the FAN FAVORITES CD. You can only get the FAN FAVORITE CD if you are a fan club member. The Little River Band Fan Club is truly just as said. I’ve been a Night Owl for almost 3 years now. And have made so many great friends. This group really does care about one another, they have encouraged me so many times. And the Band “WOW” never have I seen a group of band members throw such LOVE to their fans, in so many ways. If the venue allows it The Band will stay on stage after the show and greet as many fans as possible. Take pictures with the fans and so much more. There are alot of Great bands out there but Little River Band is the only one I have ever seen do this and honestly, affectionately CARE for each of their fans. I will be a Night Owl forever because of the LOVE I’ve been shown by the other Night Owls and by The Band. Oh and of course The Awesome Music 🎶 They sure know how to sing and have a good time which gives their fans a Great Time.

I met Wayne in the early 70’s when he was playing in a band with Andy Waterman, and Don Markesse. They sometimes practiced in the Band Room at Waterman HS as Don was the band director there. And I graduated from WHS in 1971.
