Little River Band’s lead singer Wayne Nelson’s favorite moment in his 42 year career with LRB recreated by a fan. That moment was when he was singing with Glenn Frey.  What’s the best gift to give the man that has everything? Give him a hand drawn sketch of that moment. That is exactly what long time fan Phillene Cramer did.  Read on for more about Little River Band fan recreates Wayne Nelson’s favorite moment on stage in gift form. Wayne told his PR Agency ITS Promotions that this was the nicest, most thoughtful gift he had ever received from a fan. He was totally blown away by it. He was planning on putting it in a prominent place in his home.

Special Order Gift

The band calls her their #1 fan. In fact, Phillene Cramer was the 1st lifetime Gold member of the bands fan club. Her membership number is literally #1. Phillene Cramer searched until she could find the right artist. Then she commissioned her to recreate this special moment for Wayne Nelson. We spoke to Phillene about the special gift she had created for Wayne. This is what she had to say:

I wanted to have a sketch made that I could give Wayne in memory of his friend Glen Frey (Eagles). In 1988 Glenn and Wayne shared a stage in Sydney Australia singing one of the Eagles hit songs Desperado. Wayne has said it was a precious few minutes he will always remember. I took a picture from that video to have the sketch drawn. In 2017 – 2018 I struggled to find the right person to do the sketch to my satisfaction.

In early 2019 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. I had to stop looking to take care of me. Later that year I started searching again. This time I was more determined then ever to get it done. I finally found a very nice lady, Candy Samuels that said she would create it for me.

Then in 2020 Covid hit and bands didn’t do live music. Finally, 2021 came along and bands were back playing live again. Four (4) years later on November 11, 2021 @ Prairie Band Casino in Mayetta, Ks that afternoon Wayne finally had the sketch in his hands.

About Glenn Frey

Glenn Lewis Frey: November 6, 1948 – January 18, 2016 was an American singer, songwriter, actor and founding member of the rock band Eagles. Frey was the co-lead singer and front man for the Eagles, roles he came to share with fellow member Don Henley, with whom he wrote most of the Eagles’ material. Frey played guitar and keyboards as well as singing lead vocals on songs such as “Take It Easy“, “Peaceful Easy Feeling“, “Tequila Sunrise“, “Already Gone“, “James Dean“, “Lyin’ Eyes“, “New Kid in Town“, and “Heartache Tonight“.

During the hiatus of the Eagles from 1980 to 1994, Frey embarked on a successful solo career. He released his debut album, No Fun Aloud, in 1982 and went on to record Top 40 hits “The One You Love“, “Smuggler’s Blues“, “Sexy Girl“, “The Heat Is On“, “You Belong to the City“, “True Love“, “Soul Searchin’” and “Livin’ Right“. As a member of the Eagles, Frey won six Grammy Awards and five American Music Awards. The Eagles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, the first year they were nominated. Consolidating his solo recordings and those with the Eagles, Frey had 24 Top 40 singles on the Billboard Hot 100.

About Wayne Nelson

Bassist/vocalist Wayne Nelson joined the band in 1980, and worked alongside founding members with some of the most distinctive harmonies and vocal abilities, creating the unique LRB sound. In 1981, Nelson was recognized by world renowned Beatles producer Sir George Martin whom, while producing ‘Time Exposure’, chose Nelson to record lead vocals on two of the band’s biggest hits, “The Night Owls” and “Take It Easy On Me.”

Later that same year, guitarist extraordinaire Stephen Housden joined LRB bringing a rock element into the band’s sound and helped contribute to their string of Top 10 hits.  As band members departed, both Housden and Nelson worked together to bring LRB into the new millennium.  To date, lead singer/bassist Wayne Nelson has contributed his vocal and bass guitar talents on 22 Little River Band Albums/CD’s.  Little River Band has a full tour schedule in 2022.
