Peter August a/k/a Henrik Faison portrayed by Wes Ramsey heading for Emmy

Friday’s episode of General Hospital brought us some excellent work by Wes Ramsey.  The character Peter August had no idea that Anna Devane was his mother. Anna Devane portrayed by Finona Hughs tries to make amends.  She walked away from her newborn without even looking at the child.  General Hospital turns up the emotions for Memorial Day Weekend with the Henrik Faison story line.

First of all, Anna didn’t just walk away from Peter.  She also walked away from Robin when she was a baby.  Anna always put her work first. For years Robin thought Anna was a family friend. She didn’t find out that Anna was her mother until after she was in Port Charles for a good amount of time. She found out that Robert was her father a good year after that.  In addition, Robin was raised by Mac when it was thought both Anna and Robert died in an explosion.

Most people remember Faison as being gross and unattractive with wild crazy hair.  In fact, when he was young, he was not bad looking and had normal hair.  He was quite stylish and sophisticated.  It is discovered at the time of his death that he had Huntington’s Disease so he may not have been responsible for his crazy behavior in his later years. Faison was always in love with Anna.  Consequently, if he had known that Peter/Henrik was his son with Anna, he would have treated him much better.

The story line they have come up with between Valentin, Faison and Henrik is a bit contrived.  Why would Valentin hand over the baby he knew Anna gave birth to Faison?  That just didn’t make sense.  Why would he take him from some loving adoptive parents?  He wanted to get even with Anna but that just seems ridiculous to give a baby to monster to get even with the mother.

Do you think that Nina should be done with Valentin after this latest revelation?  Should Valentin leave and leave his daughter behind? Is there anyway back from this?  Does the viewer think that Valentin is responsible for Nathan’s death?  Do you think that Maxi should let it go and just worry about raising her son? Should Maxi drag Lulu into this and will this cause trouble in Lulu’s marriage? Is Valentin a victim or a criminal? Does he and Henrik deserve mercy and forgiveness?

In any event, the work Wes did on Friday was outstanding.  You felt his pain, anguish and fears.  That scene was definitely essay worthy.  The question is, how is Dr. O going to react when she finds out that Faison had a son with Anna?  Most of all because her son with Faison is dead and Anna’s is alive. General Hospital turns up the emotions for Memorial Day Weekend cliffhangers.
