Rock On No More

Commonality between Political Rallies, Protests and Rock Concerts
When are concerts coming back?

Firstly, Rock Concerts have nothing in common with political rallies or Protests right now?  Let’s clarify why. Rock Concerts are not allowed to take place.  So why oh why can the others be allowed to happen?  Meanwhile, Trump’s mostly mask-less rallies spread lies and disease. Let’s explore the Commonality between Political Rallies, Protests and Rock Concerts a little more.

Looking back in time

Before Covid-19, rallies, protests and rock concerts or live music in general had lots in common.  They all involved big crowds, lots of energy and passion. However, because of Covid -19, venues have had to shut down by orders of local government.

Now, this shouldn’t be a bad thing. After all, we needed to slow down the virus.  This seemed to work for a while until Trump tweeted to “liberate” certain states.  Since that time infections have risen and so has the anger of the nation.

Super spreader events

For the past 4 months Donald Trump has hosted super spreader events all over the United States.  He kicked them off in Oklahoma on June 20th, pretty much ending the lock down.  That rally was attended by Herman Cain who caught Covid either there or in his recent travels. He died 4 weeks after being admitted into the hospital.

Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

The only outdoor music festival that went forward since the Covid-19 shutdown in 2020 was Sturgis.  Perhaps that happened because it’s official title is motorcycle rally.  In addition, I don’t think that surprised anybody as Sturgis attendees are known as rebels. However, it has been reported that the Sturgis attendees did contract Covid-19.  They left the week long rally-festival which took place from August 7 -16 and brought it home with them.  There have been arguments back and forth about the actual numbers.  In short, it is obvious that the event caused an increase in infections and death.

Live Entertainment Industry

The live entertainment industry has taken the hardest hit from Covid.  Everyone from performing artists to their road crews and bus drivers.  We can’t forget the support staff of these artists like the booking agencies, PR agencies and management.  All indoor and outdoor performances were canceled for 2020 with no return date in sight. Venues and their employee’s are out of work. So are the food vendors and merchandise vendors, ticket sale agencies, promoters and photographers.

The Trump Administration’s mishandling of the pandemic has destroyed the live entertainment industry.  Simply mandating masks would have the industry working again by now.

Biden Drive in Rally

The Joe Biden rallies have been so different from the Trump rallies. Joe Biden has drive-in rallies.  People are in their cars, social distanced and wearing masks.  Trump rallies claim to offer masks but they certainly don’t mandate them. In fact, Trump mocks people who do wear them during his rallies.

The majority of protest attendees are masked.  Some may be doing it to protect their identities but the fact remains, they are masked.  We know that masks help to bring down the chances of contracting Covid.

Are you asking yourself this:  Why does this impeached President hold rallies with thousands of attendees but I can’t see my favorite band?  Great question.  Trump does not play by the rules. In fact, he is a rule breaker.  His supporters liked that about him.  However, this behavior has become dangerous.  He is putting the life of his supporters in jeopardy. In turn they are putting the lives of the people they come into contact with in jeopardy. It is a vicious cycle.  The good news is that the election is over in two days. We can only hope that this will be the end of the Trump rallies.

Why is he allowed to continue this behavior?

The simple answer is because there is nobody stopping him.  The republican congress has let him run a muck. They are like the parents that went away for the weekend and left the teenager home alone. The only problem is it has been a 4 year weekend. America is exhausted. It is time to end weekend at Donny’s and get back to being a great, respectful and responsible country. This should be considered illegal behavior.  Time will tell.

In conclusion

Commonality between Political Rallies, Protests and Rock Concerts is WE THE PEOPLE

Do you want your live music back?  It won’t be back as long as Donald Trump is President.  If you haven’t voted yet, get out and vote. If you want live music back, vote for Joe Biden.  That is the only way you are going to get live music back.  Joe will follow science and get this virus under control.  Donald Trump will wait until their is a vaccine.  Keep in mind, there is still no vaccine for HIV and it has been decades.  Not trying to scare you, just a fact.

Commonality between Political Rallies, Protests and Rock Concerts is people.  Here’s to hoping that We the People can come together as Americans in the months to come.

After 4 years of Alternative Facts, getting back to normal sure looks good.
