David Canary and Alzheimer’s

David Canary and Alzheimer’s are sadly connected.  It is being reported that this wonderful man died of natural causes.  It seems these natural causes may have been brought on by Alzheimer’s?  As a long time fan of All My Children and David Canary, we think this is a story that needs to be written.  It is being reported that Canary passed away from natural causes but until now his Alzheimer’s diagnosis had remained private.  This article is being written to bring awareness to Alzhemier’s and the fund that was set up and is no way intended to be disrespectful to David Canary or his family.

In fact, The Daily Banner lunch team absolutely loved Canary and his work.  This article is being written to bring awareness to the horrible disease that took his life.

Recently Glen Campbell has had a very public battle against this vicious disease and he is expected to pass away shortly because of it.  It looks like Canary already has passed away as a result of the disease.  His family has asked that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

David Canary’s Memorial Fund

There will be people that will say,”No, he did not have Alzheimer’s and the sad proof is a Memorial fund and a statement from the family that clearly states.

“Please donate in honor of a truly extraordinary actor, husband, father, and man.  With your support, you will join in the fight against the disease that took him away from us far too soon.”

This is an awful disease that takes family members every single day and does it slowly and with what seems to be deliberate pain and suffering for all involved.

In 2010 Canary retired from full time acting but came back for some special moments on “All My Children,” right before the show went off the air on ABC in 2011.  The fact that Canary had Alzheimer’s was a private matter for the family and that is to be respected.  They have now however made it public on the tribute page.  Please consider giving what you can so we can find a cure or at the very least a treatment for this horrible disease.

About Alzheimer’s

“Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease, where dementia symptoms gradually worsen over a number of years. In its early stages, memory loss is mild, but with late-stage Alzheimer’s, individuals lose the ability to carry on a conversation and respond to their environment. Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. Those with Alzheimer’s live an average of eight years after their symptoms become noticeable to others, but survival can range from four to 20 years, depending on age and other health conditions.”

    1. I lost my 90 y/o dad in May 2015, he suffered from dementia for well over 15 yrs. The difference in his care was his wife (my mom) visiting him 3 to 4 times/wk and feeding him lunch, they would’ve been married 67 yrs in June of this year. He was a wonderful man of God, husband and father. My condolences to Mr. Canary’s family, I am very sorry for your loss. Alzheimers is a devastating disease that affects every member of the family 🙁

Still miss him horribly. I grew up watching David Canary on All My Children, and loved him on the show. I am so sorry for his familys loss, this disease is more horrible then many can ever imagine. I feel for all Alzheimers families.

    4. Sorry to learn of David Canary’s death due to Alzheimer’s. He was a terrific actor, and he was kind and gracious to fans in real life. I enjoyed his work greatly, and he is missed. My deepest sympathy to his family. My late mother was lost to us over time by strokes. She couldn’t speak in her final days of life. She had mild dementia, and it was tough to see her slip away as she lost her memory.
