This is a Young and Restless Jessica tells all piece.  Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Jessica Collins was hopeful that the writer might redeem the character she was playing (Avery) until it came time for her contract to be negotiated and they let her know there was not going to be any negotiations.  The actress then realized that was the way it was probably going to go with her character and she opted to leave.

Also, there was much to do about the fact that the writers had to change the story-line because it was so heinous.  Many of the soap viewers not only speculated but most likely guessed right because the story took us there.

Where did the story take us?  Well, if you remember, Lily came over to Avery’s with the clothing she had on from when she had sex with Joe.  Avery told Lily she could shower and borrow some of her clothes.  She left her Joe soiled clothes at Avery’s.

We never did see or hear about those clothes again and the lunch crew at the Daily Banner thinks it is because the clothes and the part they played is what was re-written.

You see, they made a big deal on not having any physical evidence to connect Joe too Avery’s rape.  What the lunch crew thinks was the first story-line was that Avery was going to turn Lily’s clothing in which certainly would contain Joe’s DNA to try and prove that he was her rapist when everything else around her was failing.

It was bad enough she held him at gunpoint but her using someone else’s soiled clothing to get him arrested and charged would have been way over the top.  We wouldn’t call that heinous but we would here at the Daily Banner call that gross.  What are your thoughts on that?  Do you think that was going to be the storyline they changed?

    1. I would have loved to see joeand Avery get back together and get a chance to get it right this time. I love the Kane and lily story line.

    2. I think y&r made a big mistake when they let Jessica collins go shes a great actress love y&r like to watch Jessica on the show. I hope you can get her back on the show again you could bring her back if there was better writters and story lines for avery.you need to take Sharon off the show, and put Jessica back on,

    3. Makes sense to me. Wondered why they went to the trouble of having her go to Avery’s which really didn’t make sense. Now it does to a degree with your explanation.

    4. I don’t like what they did to Avery I want her back. The story line is getting way out of line an way BORING. FOR gosh sakes let one couple be happy. At least for a little while. I want Ashligh blamed for planting the gun she was in the apartment snooping

    5. It seems that on Y&R they prefer dumb actresses with long blond hair. If you don’t into that mold you don’t stick around too long. I’m wondering how long “Phyllis” will last? What ever happened to (I call her)”Dixie”? Too bad you dumped Jessica Collins—bad move!
