Marty Brown’s New CD ‘American Highway’

Seems like if you are a long time country music fan, you will know the name Marty Brown is one that you recognize.  He is known for being a good old country boy from Kentucky and very fan oriented. Sit back and read New Marty Brown CD American Highway Review.

Most Noteworthy, it has been 25 years

First of all, this is Marty’s first studio album in 25 years. He is back from vacation to show the world that he can still run with the big dogs. Furthermore, his new label, Plowboy Records is a great home.  So let’s finally start our journey down the American Highway.

American Highway

The song starts with a nice traditional sound and it is a nice view of a land that Brown has obviously seen more than once. A great look at the travel down an American Highway.

I’m On A Roll

If your toes are not tapping by the time the vocals begin then perhaps you need to check your pulse. I’m On a Roll (Better than its Ever Been) may cause your right foot to go towards the floor if you are driving.

Umbrella Lovers

Who says that true love can’t manage to flourish in the rain? Not every day can bring sunshine and sometimes that rain can be a good thing. Good thing we have Umbrella Lovers.

Shaking All Over the World

There is a bit of a calypso feel to this song. It makes you feel like you are on an island with a nice umbrella drink in your hand without ever leaving home.

When the Blues Come Around

There is a nice Hammond style organ part on “When the Blues Come Around” In these days those older sounds are breath of fresh air. I certainly love the line it cuts like a switchblade.

Right out of Left Field

The lyrics are very much to the point. There is a strong baseball feel and reference. You can fit the real world situations that many of us face on a daily basis.

Kentucky Blues

A great harmonica part kicks this song off. From there it winds around feelings with a voice that truly shows off Brown’s style. That’s something that is not often allowed to be in the forefront in today’s country. Kentucky Blues is by far my favorite from this CD.

Casino Winnebago

This song a nice feel and you can’t help but enjoy. It is not  something that you can identify.  It has a catchy and light way about it.

Velvet Chains

If you listen to this song maybe you can identify what he is feeling. All of us have to make sacrifices for the sake of life and jobs.

Mona Lisa Smiles

Above all, here is a look at real life compared to the smile on that famous portrait.  Hence, what a nice way to end the CD.

In Conclusion
