He also underwent several surgeries over the ensuing years.
“The world as we knew it stopped on Oct 29, 2012,” Stacy said in a Facebook post last year.

His mother wrote on the Facebook page Thursday morning that she went to wake Tripp up for school and discovered he was struggling with labored breathing.
“I could see his little chest going up and down and his heart rate was high,” she said. “As I was driving to the pediatrician’s office, I could tell Tripp was getting worse and I wasn’t sure I had enough oxygen in the tank I brought to make it to Atlanta especially in heavy traffic so we took a detours to Athens ER.”
She said they were waiting to be transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
“They said his left lung was Cloudy and it could be pneumonia or a mucus plug but since they don’t have a Peds ICU, they are sending us to CHOA,” Stacy wrote.
Last year marked the fifth anniversary of the accident that critically injured the young boy. He was two years old at the time.
To mark the anniversary, Kids ‘R’ Kids sent the family to Disney World. At the time, Halstead’s family said they’d had to wait years until he was doing well enough to take the trip.
“We love you Trippadoo and you will never realize the impact you made on our lives,” Stacy wrote.
